The toughest moment is when you hear a friend, family member or loved one pass away in a glimpse, it does not matter the age, it does not matter if it was on their bed or in an accident. All that matter at that time is they had left us with memories and we will live with these memories to remember them all our lives.
I lost my brother when he was 18 years old (he was 2 years younger than me), in a car accident, he had the whole world in front of him, just finished his high school and getting ready for university. Yet, God had other plans for him and for us as a family, which we accepted with all hearts because we believe that God always plans the best for us.
Now, on social media, you read every day about a loved one who leaves us and we start remembering all the good memories. We see people being touched and emotionally triggered even when they do not know them in person. We are always moved by the stories we hear, the good deeds, unspoken moments they had helped, supported or guided a person out of a tough situation.
BUT WHY?
Why do we wait until a person passes away to say “Thank you”
Why do we wait to remember a situation they helped us
Why can’t we just pick up this phone or send this message to ask about them
Why do we have to be reminded of the loved ones when it is too late
I will start to reach out to people who had been part of my life journey just to say
“Thank you” for being part of my story
“Thank you” for shaping me into a unique personality
“Thank you” for the memories and experiences
“Thank you” for remembering the good times only
“Thank you” for being there when I need to speak to someone
We are always looking for ways to develop and sharpen our skills in business and career, but today’s message is to sharpen your emotional relationship with people
If I will leave you with one action, is to pick up your phone, go through your contacts and pick 3 people. This could be an old boss, parents, a distant friend, a loved one that needs to hear your appreciation, a team member that is working really hard and needs your support. Drop them a message to say you appreciate them
Let this coming month be your appreciation month because there is always someone you owe a thank you.
